Source: The Star (page 14) Tangkak: The state government will use satellites and aeroplanes to gather land-related information to streamline land development projects in the near future. Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the introduction of the geographical information system was undertaken with the assistance of the European Union (EU). "All land-related data will be gathered and stored in a centralised system for reference. "Besides state and government agencies, those in the private sector involved in land development will also benefit from the system," he said, after opening the new RM6mil Diamond Jubilee Hall here yesterday. Abdul Ghani added he would head a team of 10 officers for a five-day visit to Germany next week on the project, which was expected to cost about RM4mil. He said the EU had agreed to provide about two-thirds of the cost of it while the state government would bear the remainder.
