CHILIPADI.com has joined Boulder, Colorado-based SignalSoft Corp's "local.info" alliance programme, under which they will work together to market and sell location-enabled wireless services to network operators in the region.

SignalSoft (www.signalsoftcorp.com) is the platform and applications developer of Wireless Location Services, a product suite which allows mobile phone operators to determine the whereabouts of their subscribers and then deliver relevant location-sensitive content to those who have previously enrolled for such services.

The partnership between the two companies covers the testing and demonstration of the application of SignalSoft's solutions and Chilipadi's content to ensure that they are compatible and user friendly, chilipadi said in a statement.

"Wireless information that is location-sensitive opens up a whole new world of e-commerce and information on demand for mobile phone users," said chilipadi chief operating officer Jamie Saw.

With the introduction of such services by mobile operators, the public would be able to select the type of information or commercial promotion they want to receive on their mobile devices whilst walking down Orchard Road or Jalan Bukit Bintang, he added.

Chilipadi launched its independent wireless portal, which it said provides over 40 content channels and applications, in Malaysia last December.

With the SignalSoft alliance, chilipadi will "location-enable" its content and applications and offer them to subscribers interested in receiving wireless information and services on the move.

SignalSoft's localised information product, local.info, is integral to the delivery of compelling wireless services, making content relevant based on the subscriber's location, chilipadi claimed in its statement.

The local.info Alliance is designed to create a consortium of applications, content and service providers to develop and deliver location-based information services to network operators worldwide.

Over 150 applications, content and service providers have joined the programme, SignalSoft claimed.
