US, Asian Government and industry leaders to meet in KL on Feb 12 PDF Print E-mail

Government and industry leaders from the United States and nine Asian nations will meet in Kuala Lumpur from Feb 12 to 14.

They are here to discuss government and infrastructure projects in the region geographic information system (GIS) and other geospatial technologies.

Organized by the US Trade and Development Agency (TDA) in cooperation with the US Department of Commerce, the conference will highlight projects in South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines and Vietnam.

The Asia Geospatial Technology Conference will feature the presentation of 25 newly researched GIS infrastructure projects, all seeking to utilize leading US developed geosolution in their projects planning and implementation, including remote sensing, photogrammetry and global positioning system (GPS).

Apart from that, A comprehensive project resource guide, containing country and sector profiles, detailing the opportunities, time lines, equipment list and key contacts will be presented at the conference.

TDA said participants will be able to attend a pre-schedule "one-on-one" meetings with the regional sponsors to discuss and market their products face-to-face.

TDA's director, J. Joseph Grandmaison said the goal of the conference is to ensure that states, municipalities and utilities companies in Asia have access to the best geospatial technology and expertise to serve their communities and customers.

"Asia presents tremendous growth potential for US companies involved in providing geosolution for infrastructure project planning and implementation."

He added that the conference is the best place to demostrate the US capabilities specifically in the GIS project opportunities.

The conference is open to US and Asian government officials and companies in GIS products and services.
