Source: New Straits Times Malaysia's home-grown hi-tech company Ceanet Advanced Technologies Sdn Bhd (Ceanet) has succeeded in making inroads into the Philippines when the Philippines National Police (PNP) confirmed the purchase of its Global Positioning System (GPS) vehicle tracking software and hardware. The GPS is for the country's national police force, Ceanet said in Kuala Lumpur. "This is a proud moment for Malaysia, in general, and Ceanet in particular," said Nor Azlan David, the technical director of Ceanet. "This proves that made-in-Malaysia products can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with overseas competitors even in this high technology area." Ceanet will supply the GPS system through its Philippines distributor. Ceanet has also successfully penetrated other markets in the Asean region and Asia Pacific. A police spokesman in Manila was quoted as saying that "the PNP is employing a GPS vehicle tracking system to achieve faster response to crime and emergencies."
