TOULOUSE, FRANCE -- The Malaysian Centre for Remote Sensing (MACRES) has signed a three-year agreement with Spot Image for imagery reception from the entire SPOT constellation -- SPOT 2, 4 and 5. This is the latest of a network of 22 SPOT stations located around the globe. The multi-satellite station, located near Temerloh, about 150 kilometres northeast of Kuala Lumpur, received its first SPOT imagery on the 1st of July during the operational review. Spot Image trained local operators in the use of its procedures and interfaces and their integration with their own services (programming, catalogue updating, etc.). This type of support is now included in all data reception agreements. "Spot Image has enjoyed excellent commercial relations with MACRES over many years. One of the Centre’s missions is to apply Earth-observation techniques to sustainable development, environmental management and natural disaster management. Direct reception of SPOT data is the most effective way to ensure fast access to the current information needed for these applications,” says Antoine de Chassy, Spot Image director of applications and development. Direct receiving stations are vital partners in exploiting the SPOT system and enabling the commercial Spot Image, S.A. to optimize worldwide access to its satellite image data. The Spot Image group—headquartered in Toulouse, France, with five subsidiaries (Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, United States) and three offices (Brazil, Mexico, United Arab Emirates)—draws on a global network of direct receiving stations, partners and distributors to meet the needs of private- and public-sector decision-makers worldwide.
