Source: New Straits Times OMNITRAK Solutions Sdn Bhd is currently talking to a number of transportation and service companies in Malaysia to install a real-time tracking system called mTrak. Its managing director K. Muganathan said the company has so far won about ten contracts to install the Web-based system on commercial vehicles in the country. "We expect to get another 50 contracts from various companies by the end of this year," he told Business Times in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. mTrak is a tracking system designed and developed by MobiApps Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based hybrid terrestrial and satellite technologies provider that give companies the ability to monitor and control their vehicles anywhere and anytime. It has expanded its network through service and reseller partners in the region. It also has operations in the US and India. Muganathan said the mTrak system integrates global positioning system technology, wireless communications and a web-service platform to provide companies with the location-relevant and time sensitive information pertaining to its resources. "By locating drivers and communicating immediately, these companies are able to manage more business transactions per driver per day, increasing efficiency and productivity," he said, adding that this will give companies a clear idea of the vehicles’ daily activities. Muganathan said mTrak is created specifically for the transportation and service companies that need an efficient and cost-effective channel to manage their fleet of vehicles. "Using an Internet-based system with no special software requirements, the tracking system allows easy access to information from the web," he said. He said users just have to connect to the Internet and will instantly have access to the fleet information. In addition, there is no initial investment cost on hardware as customers are only required to pay a monthly subscription fee. He said Omnitrak offers a complete package of hardware, wireless connectivity, web-based software and round-the-clock support program. "We aim to be a total solutions provider to enable our customers to be more competitive and be quick to market demands," he said. The company, which has been in operation since last year, expects to record a turnover of up to RM4 million.
