| Sepakat Gets RM2.48m Deal From Land Ministry |

Source: Computimes, The New Straits Times (page 6) The Land and Cooperative Development Ministry has awarded a contract worth RM2.48 million to Sepakat Computer Consultant Sdn Bhd for the National Infrastructure for Land Information System (NaLIS) project.The contract covers the supply, delivery and commissioning of hardware and software, and development of the NaLIS Version 1.0P application to standardise the delivery and availability of spatial data on land on the Internet for online access. Both parties formalised the agreement at a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur last week. The Ministry was represented by secretary-general Datuk Nik Mohd Zain Nik Yusof, and Sepakat by managing director Rosedy Issa. Also present was Sepakat' executive director Shaifubahrim Saleh. According to Nik Mohd Zain, the NaLIS project will enable agencies related to land use, to have access to a standardised online platform for sharing of land information. The project, he added, seeks to address the issue of different computing system being used by various agencies related to land use in the country, such as the Ministry, federal and state land agencies and local authorities. Nik Mohd Zain said the NaLIS facility will thus be able to help save time and cost for preparing land information, while ensuring that the information available is accuate and up-to-date. According to him, the Ministry had embarked on a pilot project of NaLIS, during which the NaLISA Version 1.0 prototype application was developed using Wed technology. The application uses spatial/texture data which was generated by the various land agencies. The data is available in digital mapping formats which contain land information at the agencies. Nik Mohd Zain siad by developing NaLISA Version 1.0, the data sets would be stardardised, and the information could be accessed online and shared by geographic information system (GIS) users in government and state agencies, fir activities related to land use. Among the agencies that will be involved in the development of NaLISA 1.0P are the Survey and Mapping Department, Geological Survey Department, Forestry Department, Agricultural Department, Drainage and Irrigation Department, Public Woks Department and Remote Sensing Centre.
