DEMC is a subsidiary of Kumpulan Darul Ehsan, the investment arm of the Selangor Government.

DEMC signed the MOU in Berlin recently with the Information Communication Network division of Siemens for the industrial university project in a ceremony witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Abu Hassan Omar, Selangor State Secretary Amrin Buang and KDEB president Datuk Zabir Bajuri.

The Siemens group also signed two other MOUs and signed two other MOUs and a contract with the KDEB group to provide co-operation in information technology infrastructure and resource management in Selangor.

The Petaling Jaya-based Siemens Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd (SEE) said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur that the second MOU involved Siemens's Sicad Geomatics GmbH and Global System Integration, a subsidiary of KDEB, in developing smart partnerships ideas into GIS (geographic information systems) applications.

The two parties will further develop geo-related applications for land management, town planning and solution integration.

The third MOU sees Siemens teaming up with KDEB in developing resources and utility management infrastructure and infostructure.

Besides the MOUs, a contract estimated to be worth more than RM1 million was signed between Siemens Business Services with Global System Integration, a unit of KDEB. It is for the supply of Sicad software in the roll-out of Darul Ehsan GIS in Selangor. This pilot land use and management system has been successfully launched in Serendah.

SEE said the industrial university, to be built over 400 hectares of State land, was designed to support the growing numbers of industries in the State, especially IT, engineering and business.
