Source: The Star (page 8) Finnish software house Tekla Oy has clinched its first order in Malaysia for its XCity geographical information system (GIS) by Kuching City south council.The XCity solution will integrate the council's major divisions into a common data management covering land parcels, buildings, utilities, roads, parks and other infrastructure. The agreement was signed by mayor Chan Seng Khai and Tekla Oy are manager Ari Nassi. Nassi said XCity would be used to establish and improve coordination between the council and other authorities responsible for the provision and maintenance of infrastructure, parks, open spaces and greens, as well as the approval of buildings and structures. Nassi said with the system, the council would have an information database for future infrastructure planning. He said the XCity solution had been used by over 40 city councils and municipalities in Scandinavia.
